About
Hi, I’m Ciara Hablutzel Oppenheimer,
I am MBACP registered as a psychotherapist and counsellor. Currently, I am training to be a Counselling Psychologist at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (NSPC).
My qualifications are:
PGDip in Existential Psychology and Psychotherapy, NSPC
Foundation Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Regent’s University
MSc in Psychology, Birkbeck University
BA in History, University College London
My professional experience includes suicide prevention work at Rethink Mental Illness, winning the HSJ Award 2024 for Best Mental Health Programme in Partnership with the NHS. I also completed ASIST training in Suicide Prevention, and worked as a bereavement support volunteer at Cruse Bereavement Care, where I worked in a trauma-informed way. These experiences have shaped how I think about the contextual, cultural, and societal impact on a person's life.
I have lived in Hong Kong, New York, South Africa and London, which has given me insight into the challenges people face across different cultural contexts — and I remain curious about the role culture plays in who we are. I have worked with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences, and I look forward to learning about what has shaped you.
Approach – How I Work
We discuss your thoughts, feelings, relationships and behaviours, which can help to manage mental health, improve coping skills, and understand emotional issues.
Therapy with me is a caring, reflective, and open process. I aim to create a space that feels safe, confidential, and secure. I am present with you through empathic listening, while also incorporating somatic, creative, mindfulness and experiential exercises, and psychodynamic and person-centred perspectives when helpful.
Together, we will engage in a reflective and transformative process, seeking meaning amid life’s challenges. Wherever you are in your journey, therapy with me is a collaborative, empathic, encouraging, and exploratory.
My work is grounded in an existential and phenomenological framework. This means that together we explore your subjective experiences, emotions, and meanings — rather than focusing only on symptoms or diagnoses. Existential psychotherapy offers a way to explore the fundamental questions of human life – identity, freedom, responsibility, connection, loss, and purpose — in a non-judgemental and supportive space.
Depending on what you are coming to therapy for, I will draw on approaches that best fits you as an individual. I am interested in learning about you — your past, your present, what you hope for from therapy, and how you would like to move forward.
What therapy with me feels like
Exploratory, not rushed
Focused on understanding, not fixing
Calm, grounded and non-judgemental
Holistic
Services
I offer weekly one-to-one therapy sessions lasting 50 minutes, creating a reflective, supportive space to explore what is happening in your inner and outer world.
Sessions can support you with emotional difficulties, transitions, relationships, and deeper questions of meaning and identity. You may experience greater emotional clarity, a more grounded sense of self, and insight into your processes and patterns.
